Giles County High School Color Guard Shirts 2019

Sketches
For this task, I was given a rough concept from the girls for what they wanted on their shirts. I was told to take this and run with it, so I did.
The original concepts provided to me by the Colorguard team.
The girls knew exactly what they wanted, they just needed a designer to bring it to life. I recreated their sketches in order to have a cleaner idea to create a vector from. The color of the shirts, as well as the imprint color has been determined far in advance.

I started by sketching wave forms before moving on to the flag. My Senior Designer wanted to make sure I got the point across that the waves were, in fact, waves. I later combined these sketches with the lower sketch right below this paragraph to create an ocean that wasn't calm or rowdy- but a combination of the two (as you will see on the vector).
One of my 2-3 pages of sketches. I had a page with four to five more waveforms, but I do not remember where that page ended up during this process.
Vector
Here is what the vector looked like when we were nearing the final stage of the process. There are a few minor changes from here to the shirts.
If you look at the very front and compare it to the very right-most form, you can see that one is based off of the shapes of sea foam and the others are from larger wave breaks. I also took the straighter line from my above sketch and broke it up a bit so it wouldn't feel so... solid.

As you can see, there were also changes to the flag. We had issues with Legibility and Clarity (of what the shirt was for), so my Senior designer suggested we put the number on the flag. Had to be careful about typing on a line/shape as I did above, many times the letters wanted to turn sideways for some odd reason and I wasn't sure if it was the fault of the shape or CorelDraw's software. Of course, there will always be manual adjustments to be made to text.
Shirts
There was a file miscommunication and the first shirt was printed with the sun included. It was removed from the file, but we somehow gave them the wrong file. It's a good thing for catches like this.
Final Imprint
The final shirt imprint without the sun.
